Rennsport VI Prep

I'll be driving back to Laguna Seca next week. I drove out there from PA last year for the Monterey Reunion, just under 6500 miles. I didn't do as much prep last year as I have for this event. I installed new wheel bearings on all four corners since the rears were rumbling when I got back. The rear bearings were fun to do and turned out great. I put all new Pagid Blue sport pads all the way around. They don't make those anymore but I found some new old stock. I accidentally bought a Scart Supersound and installed that. Wow what a great sounding silencer, it does exactly what they say it does. It is relatively subdued when at cruise throttle and has that fantastic sound when you get on it. And OMG above 4K RPM all the way to redline, NICE! It is a really nice looking piece of polished stainless equipment to have hanging back there, sort of classes my T up a little. My Dansk Sport was just a little too quiet for those canyon blasts. I like to roll down the window and just listen (I don't have a radio installed). I had the wheels balanced as they were starting to shake a little at 70mph. Oil changed with a new filter and Mobil 1 15W50. I always carry a new clutch cable. I had the alternator rebuilt and bought a new voltage regulator and installed it (old one is now my spare, it worked when I took it out!). I had my old Bosch CDI rebuilt by Ingo here on the board (Thanks Ingo!) and that will be my spare as my Permatune seems to be happy for now. Updated my Premium AAA membership. A bag of tools and lets see am I forgetting anything..oh, ya I just have to drive the 2800 miles to get there. See you there, I'll be camping in the Grand Prix section. One pic from last year.

They are meant to be driven and road trips in these older 911's are always memorable!

Surprisingly I was in pretty good shape last year when I stepped out of the car at the track. I figured I'd be all stove up and unable to move but I set up camp on Thursday morning and immediately went on a hike around the track (I'm 58 this year). I am hoping that this years trip will be as awesome, just me and the 911 for miles and miles and that beautiful sound in the canyons in CO and around South Lake Tahoe on hwy 50.

72 Driven,
If you liked 50 out of S. Lake Tahoe venture a little further south for Hwy 4, Markleeville to Angels Camp and onto 49 thru Bagby to Mariposa. (Smile)

Coming from the flat lands of the midwest.... pure fun.

That is Awesome!

My son and I are going for the first time but we are flying. Given the time I would love to do that with the 911.
