Ok to clean out?

I'm starting the task of replacing some fuel lines and pulling off the air box and the air flow sensor Etc. Can I clean the air flow sensor out with carb cleaner? It's pretty dirty.

Use an electronics cleaner. That is an air temp sensor in your pic, and there are other components that won't like carb cleaner should any get past seals or shaft bores.

I have successfully done what you are going to do with the electronic cleaner.

Got it, I will follow your advice. It's pretty grimy so figured while I was here I would clean it out.
Much appreciated!

Just curious- that is a lot dirtier than I would expect it to be- was the engine fitted with a K&N air filter?

Great question and thanks for asking. No it wasn't however this car really had a lack of maintenance from the previous owner. The fuel filter was 10 years old when I got it. I'm sure there's a lot of this type of thing that needs to be done and there has been that I've worked on in the past 2 years.
