Replacing glass in 83-86 door mirror

A while ago I broke the glass in my driver's door mirror on my 86 Targa. Dumb move on my part; I was backing into a tight space. Anyway, I bought a replacement mirror glass from Pelican and now looking at how to change it. Unfortunately, my Bentley manual for the Carrera only provides detail for the replacement of the 87-89 mirror glass. As the mirror is supposed to be the same for the 1983 through the 1986 cars, I wonder if the 911 SC manual details how to change the mirror glass for this particular mirror? Can someone with a 911 SC manual have a look?

I have an 86 coupe. I believe the glass should just pry apart from the base. Its held in by three tabs.

Move the glass to it's outer most position and pry.
Then the the inner most, and pry.
Doing this all around the glass.

Carefully heat the glass with a heat gun or hair drier to soften the glue and pry with plastic bars from Harbor Freight.

Thanks, Steve. I pried very carefully and the broken mirror just came out. You're correct. There are three nubs that push into sockets. Not sure that heating it would have made any difference as it isn't held in by adhesive. Now to install the new glass and forget that it happened!!

I've had adhesive on two mirrors. Maybe they were both redo's?
