Phoenix, AZ Pelicans: Let's go Go Karting!
RJ and I were discussing the need for a trip to Speedway Karting in the very near future.
Anyone interested in going let us know. At this point we're looking at Monday (3/3), Tuesday (3/4), Wednesday (3/5) or Thursday (3/6) of next week. We'll probably meet around 7:00. I like Tuesday or Thursday since members pay $12 per race!

Out of town until Tuesday. Any day after that until Friday would work. Busy 7-9 March at a antique aircraft fly-in at Casa Grande. Come on down if anyone is interested!
Joe

Speedway has a racing license that offers discounts. You also get a t-shirt and they keep track of all your lap times. Here's the info:
http://www.speedwayraceway.com/speedwaylicense.htm They have some cool videos on their web site now showing the entire process and another that is just a lap of the track.

I am open for whatever the group chooses. You guys have to be easy on me again, I have lost 25lbs and not sure I can adjust the stagger properly to get in the 33 sec laps...

I've just recently taken up Karting. Its so fun fun and a serious adreniline (sp) rush.
Do you know what the top speed of these Karts are at your venue, or the HP? I see they are 200cc and wonder whether they have restrictors or anyhting else. Just trying to compare with what we have here. I'm 1.5 secs of the best time and need to take a note from RJ's book and lose some lbs. - all these Chinese guys are so light weight I always loose to them in the straights ![]() Hope you enjoy.

expathk,
I think we figured RJ weighed 75 pounds more than me and he still drove away. 25 pounds less is pretty significant. I looked all over their web site and can't find a top speed listed. It says they are not governed, but who knows how they are geared. I can tell you that the centrifugal clutch is frustrating coming out of a tight corner. Did you watch the videos on the web site? That might give you some idea.

Hey Joe.... what's going on at the fly in? Tammy will be out of town that weekend and I'm always looking for things to do with my daughter.

Lee,
In Casa Grande AZ next weekend, 7-9 March. Its the 45th annual Cactus Fly-in (www.cactusflyin.org) and lots of antique airplanes and stuff. I am helping the Aeronca group and will do a hot dog and hamburger lunch on Saturday. Anyone and everyone if you like old airplanes (some fabric and wood and some Russian fighter jets and anything in between) come on down on Saturday and enjoy! Should be able to make Wednesday Karting. Joe

For those who don't have a membership (racing license), you can print out a coupon here for a $5.00 discount.

I'm going to try and stop in for a bit and hassle you guys! Besides, isn't it bikini night? For the ladies that is. If I show up and RJ is showing off his lighter frame in a strapless top, I'm outa there!

I didn't realize it's ladies night. It says "Ladies in bikini tops race free." RJ's a nice guy, but he's no lady!

Here's the rates:
http://www.speedwayraceway.com/rates.htm It's a bit spendy, but a lot of fun. PS I've got an extra helmet sock that's never been used if anybody needs one.

Tammy starts a trip on Thursday a.m. so that's out for me. I could do Tuesday, but Joe's on a trip and I'm not sure if he can make Tuesday or not.
