2.7 Sitting for 4 months, Q&A prior to trying to start it
 

My 77 2.7S has sat over the last four months unfortunately due to other priorities (gotta eat and pay the mortgage :)

I'm ready to start working on her again (she's been runing fine prior to garaging). and was wondering what steps anyone would recommend for a car that's been sitting four months prior to restarting it?

where has it been sitting? If it's anywhere near where rodents can get in, you really need to inspect the cooling fins. Mine were covered in leaves.
Someone with more expertise can tell you more but 4 months isn't too bad. Mine sat for 2 years.

My '86 was in the garage for 3 1/2 months until last weekend. I checked the oil - looked underneeth for puddles. Then started it up. After a few minutes warm up drove it for the day. I had a great time to :)

The car has been garage kept (my garage) in a mostly non-damp environment. It hasn't been exposed to the elements at all sans the cold temperatures garages get to.

Spin it with the coil wire to the dizzy disconnected....it will get oil to the dry areas.....then start it.

I'm going to come of sounding very unintelligent here but could you elaborate what you just said a little more? I'm not familiar with really any abbreviations you used. :(

Just check the fluids and start it. Four months is nothing.

dizzy = distributor

If you disconnect the cable going from the ignition coil to the distributor the engine will not start but turn over. It'll allow it to build up some oil pressure and lubricate dry areas. Just crank it a couple of times for 10 seconds each.

That's probably all that's needed. I plan on doing this this weekend, as my 2.7 has sat around for about 6 weeks.

I agree; four months is no big deal if it's been in a garage. I've done that numerous times over the 20 years I've had my 2.7.
