Great project. I have started from a naked shell already, so I can offer this:

-Color: Do what you please. No one will knock you if you stray away from Mocha brown. There are so many interesting colors, even in the model year of your car. When I redid my '76 I went from copper brown to continental orange, best decision ever. Especially since you can do it right with a naked shell. Even more so if your car does not have AC. Dark brown in 40C....

-Thermostatic heating: Don't bother. Backdate to simpler levers, and avoid headaches, or worse, a heater stuck in "hell's gate" setting.

-get rid of electric windows. Simpler, lighter, less to break down.

If I were starting with such a sound blank sheet, I would make it to the best spec available in the relevant year. But I would not listen to the "originality at all costs" doctrine.

Thank you George, these are some great insights. I think you’re spot on and you’ve planted a seed in my head... I’ll be open to changing colors for sure. Heating backdate and manual windows make a lot of sense. Cheers!
