G50 shift fork/clutch install question

About to stab things together and have a question about the order of things. It's been almost 2 years since i took the dang thing apart and don't remember the sequence.

If i have this right, I'll be somehow putting the trans onto the motor with the shift fork floating (Pelican instructions say to use duct tape to hold it in position) and hopefully it will line up with the bosses for the shift fork shaft.

is that correct ?

I've test fit the shaft into the new bronze bushings and put the fork in place, but even with the engine out of the way it was a tight fit and bit of a struggle. I don't see how it will line up without being able to manipulate it. It fit very tightly between the mounting bosses in the bellhousing.

Is this normal ? or should it fit in place with ease ?

A zip tie works better than tape. Clip it off when the trans is in place. Maybe the bushings are not flush with the fork. Never had any issues with the bushing/shaft kit. It needs some long lasting lube though, seen plenty of them binding later on.

I made sure the bushings were flush after i felt how tight it was going to be. I'll massage as necessary to make it slide in with less effort.

What lube would you recommend ? I'd be afraid the lube attracting friction dust from the disc.

Copper anti seize would work, or optimoly.

I used a rubber band to hold the fork in place.

I did find myself curious about how the factory did it originally.
