Vitaloni California mirrors--why won't they adjust!

I've got a set of Vitaloni California mirrors with the flat glass on my 73 911. For the life of me I can't get the passenger side to adjust enough to be useful at all.

Anyone else have this same issue with the California mirrors? What did you do?

I haven't had the California model mirrors but have had other Vitaloni mirrors. I found the mirror face adjustment to be a bit flimsy (mostly plastic) and loosened over time. The fix was to tighten a spring loaded nut inside the housing. Maybe someone did that to yours and it's too stiff to adjust now? If you are able to open it and loosen the nut, it might help in the adjustment.
