My G50 conversion is done. It shifts good, the clutch works and it was a ton of work. The biggest part I think was moving the motor. Had I know I would of gone with coil-overs. Thanks to Beep-Beep for shedding the light on why the motor had to be moved.
I had to remove the foam on the shift rod. I extended the shift coupler. I had to screw with the throttle linkage. Here is a pic of the shift couplerhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...ft coupler.jpg |
thanks dean

Attached is photo with the stock 87 G50 factory coupler, a modified G50 coupler and the custom Powerhaus coupler. You do not want to remove the foam insulation on the shift rod because it will affect vibration in the shift assembly. In regards to spacing ... I think that is what Lee Rice mentions in his email to me .. he had to modify and use the 915 tranny cradle with his G50 and tinker with spacing issues because of the chasis differences. You could try speaking with Lee. His email is riceturbos@aol.com . Sorry .... could not figure out how to attach the photo .... the attachment feature was not available. My modifed factory coupler looks identical to the photo posted by Blown.

Alfizzo,
I had to remove the foam from the shift rod. There wasn't much room in there and she would bind, so out with the foam. I don't know if it causes any more vibs with out the foam. I have a gear whine just on throttle, but I think that is the gearbox not the shifter. I also found that the shifter ass. only fit in one spot, and that was all the way back. It would bind if I moved it up. |
