Help removing brake line spring clip
 

I cannot seem to figure out how to remove the spring clip where the flexible brake line meets the hard line. This where the flexible line heads to the master cylinder.

Do you pull it up, down, towards you, etc.?

How much force?

Do I need to disconnect something else? The flexible brake line is loose and not connected on either end.

Put a smallish flat blade screwdriver in there and wiggle it around so you can see how it clips on. I think its just the crud making it tight. You could blast it all with brake cleaner and a brass brush or tooth brush to clean a bit. I've had that off but can't remember or explain how it works. I believe the part facing the camera should lift helping it come free. Push the screw blade in there. You should be able to spin the that hose end, not thinking the clip aligns that part.
Also, you mean the caliper, not master cylinder.
If I'm remembering, the bracket on the car has a hole with two flat sides that keep the hose from rotating. The clip just pushes on from the front so T77.'s comment below about giving it a pull with some needle nose pliers should work. A bit of cleaning will make the pull easier.

or, see the bent part that is facing the metal line in your pic, use pliers to grab that and pull away from the body, or to the right in your pic.

Yep, is is just a friction clip. No catch, no spring lock, and nothing tricky at all. Just pull with pliers or tap it with a screw driver. It comes straight out. Pretty easy once you have done the first one.

Grab the end of it with a pair of vise grips/locking pliers. They give you more bite than you can squeeze a pair of regular pliers while pulling. Once the vise grips are clamped down, pull and rotate the clip side to side and it will eventually slide out. You'd be surprised how much force it takes to release these. Especially when they're rusty.

Wear gloves because when they let go your hand/thumb can slam into something with all that force.

You can tap it to rotate it until you find a comfortable position to grab it or tap it with a screw driver.
