I have read of company's that restore them. It is a multi step process and quite a bit of work. It is not cheap. Sorry I don't know the website off hand.

Allan Heywood did my 73 Badge, I shipped it to Australia and about 3-4 weeks later it returned looking fantastic. It had chipped enamel and one post missing.

It cost me about $55. to ship it over, $285. (USD) to restore & $43. (USD) to ship it back.

The note from Allan that came back with my restored badge advised me not to use the Badge as the point you push on when shutting the hood. Doing that cracks the enamel over time.

I still have that old orange one. from a long hood 911 that the owner cleared away at the shop, when he did the short hood conversion. I got it from him at $20. In perfectgly nice condition at the current market price of those badge on ebay it makes more sense to restore.

Unfortunately it seems Allan Heywood has passed away.

I have chipped orange on my 75 hood badge. I would like to find a replacement. Concerned about doing anything to mine because I don't want it polished.

Check out Karla Maxwell. She re-did my '66 911 badge and it turned out perfect.
