Sound deadening moving along

Almost done with my end to end sound deadening.
I’ll leave it as is for now, just mats but eventually will put a carpet.
I know it adds some weight and will shave one tenth on my way to the train but I like the clean looks of it and the solidity that comes with the setup.

Has anyone done this and your experience?

There are lots of threads on sound deadening. Which material did you use? I'm in the process of redoing the inside of my car and will put something centered on the large, flat panels to dampen vibration but not going to cover it all. I bought 19 feet of CCF bonded to MLV from Super Soundproofing ($400 shipped) and will be laying that down after the anti vibration material (haven't decided which I'm going to use yet) with carpet over it. I got enough to put a double layer over the engine compartment bulkhead. I'm interested in how it's going to turn out - of course.

I’ve done it.

If you’re looking to quiet things down you’ll need to put at least 1/4” of foam (preferably closed cell foam, CCF) and then mass loaded vinyl between the deadening and the carpet.

Kurt. That's what I'm doing. Any pointers on laying/securing things down & fitment advice? How much did it quiet your car down?

Here's a good video discussing sound deadening.

Marv,

Sorry, missed your reply last time. The MLV back foam I simply laid on the floor cut to shape and it stayed in place without any sort of fixing. The carpets laid on top. It made a noticeable reduction in road noise.
