Post How many 993 Targas made it to North America?

I am looking for a 964 or 993 as an upgrade from my SC. I looked at 96 993 Targa that really fit the bill except it was a triptronic. I want a 6 speed. But I loved the roof!

So, how many of these cars where shipped into Canada from 1996-1998? How rare are they?

I guess the real question is how long will I have to search to find one.

Cheers,

Mike

Red Book shows 462 for 1996, 567 for 1997, and 122 for 1998 into the U.S. and Canada. There were certainly fewer Targa models produced than the standard coupes and cabs but I wouldn't necessarily call them rare. There should be plenty out there to choose from, but you might have to extend your search to the U.S. for a wider selection.

I bought a slver 97 Targa - 6 spd, earlier in the year and searched for about 2 months to find what I wanted. The problem I ran into was the lack of available Targas in the Mid Atlantic area here on the East Coast. There were more to choose from in CA of course.

I have seen a few more on the market recently and the prices have seemed to drop a small amount. The best thing about the car is that it is fairly uncommon to see them on the road and they draw a lot of attention due to the roof.

Good luck on your search and you wont be disappointed if you buy one!

Actually I suspect that we will all be seeing more 911s on the market. You figure all those high flying stock brokers must be struggling to make the lease payments! ;-)

The Targa I saw here in Vancouver was the first and only one I have ever seen here.

Do you have the split of the shipments between US and Canada?

Here's a Targa question....can this car be used for DE without further modification?

Earlier Targas are no problem. Wondering if all the glass would disqualify the 993 version.

Anyone know?
