inner door skin

while i have the panel off the door, I see some surface rust. Thinking there are two paths, just spray over it to stop the rust, or try to sand it out. Difficult access.

True, it did take half a century to get to where it is now. It will probably take another 50+ years to need work unless there are some parts much worse not in the picture. There are a couple of choices. The first is to not do anything. Also you can lightly sand & wire brush the area down, vacuum, wipe it down and apply heavy paper towels soaked with something like Evaporust, wipe/rinse with clear water afterward and dry with a heat gun. Then apply something like POR-15. There are rust treatment threads you can search for also.

Thank you guys for your replies. I did not think about the time it has taken to get to where it is now. Guess I am lucky there is no rot at the bottom of the doors. Access to this is pretty limited, through the speaker hole at the bottom that I may take the “do nothing approach”. Again, thank you

There is a product called Fluid Film.

A gallon is about $50 (schutz gun) but you can buy spray bombs cheaper.

It never really sets up which is nice. It keeps a wet sealing layer on the existing oxidation not allowing it to breath. Repeated applications (annually) are recommended for underbody but interior panels don't receive road rash.

Look up on Youtube.
