The tranny is gone, help me spend

I sent off the box yesterday to Gary Fairbanks. 142lbs! I would have expected it to be heavier. Anyway, any thoughts on things I should have Gary do? I have heard people talk about steel synchros, xxxx sliders, etc... Should I consider any of this or just let him rebuild it factory style? What about an R/P (lower) change. I know that this is a touchy one but has anyone done this and what are your reactions? Thanks,

Joel

Perhaps some of the WEVO updates would be appropriate at this time.

Unless Wevo offers internal stuff (other than the inpection cover fork, in their short shift kit), I believe they dont have anything for me.

You already have limited slip?

How abot a trans fluid pump/cooler/spray bar assembly, pinion shaft reinfored plate, Reinforced differential side cover, limited slip, close ratio gears put in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and retain OEM 5th for cruzin. A lower (or is it higher?) R&P will mean you cruz the freeway at higher revs.

That should be good for about $7K. It sure is easier spending other peoples money.

Other than the internal Gate Shift system they (WEVO) have a machined SS bearing retainer upgrade that "mimics that of the G50 and 930 gearbox".

They also have full on race conversion for the 915. Surely not light on the pocketbook.

Ok OK, maybe I should have justified my statement a little. What I was getting at is the fact that just about every pre G50 P-guy I know complains somewhat about a grinding second or a reluctant first on a downshift, blah blah blah. Now correct me if I am wrong but the boxes did not come this way from the factory. I know that they were never "slick" but grinding etc.. would never have been OK with Porsche I am sure. My point is, something is causing this to occur at such low mileage and is there a fix or imporovement out there for this? Thats where I was coming from with the steel snychros etc... Thanks guys
