Indicators not flashing
 

Recently, on my 78 SC, the indicators stopped working when I used the indicator switch on the steering column BUT if I activated the hazard warning lights then everything worked normally (almost) in that the red light in the switch and all 4 indicator lights flashed. However I did notice that the green arrows in the tachometer didn't flash which is a clue. I have studied the wiring diagram to try and work out how this can happen and have concluded that in the Haynes manual (page 298) there are some cable connectors labelled T4 and T6 that connect both the turn signal switch and the hazard circuit to the turn signal indicator lights (green lights). The question is where are these cable connectors T4 and T6 so that I can check them out?

More than likely it is your relay. It sits behind the oil level gauge. It’s easier to get to through the front bonnet. Pull it out and clean it, it if doesn’t work then it’s time for a new one. I just went through this.

I had a problem a few months ago with the relay flashing too fast and replaced it, so all was well for a while. When the new problem started I thought it might be the relay so I put the old relay back and it had the same effect except that it flashed too fast so don't think it can be the relay.

Be aware that not any 4 prong flasher will work correctly in a 911.
I bought several from a local auto parts store (even ordered one) and none worked correctly on my 1979SC.
Some would work but both indicator lights would flash when turning left or right.
I bought one from Pelican on June 13 2012 (914-618-303-11-M44) and all has been well since.
Apparently the part # has been superseded to the one at the top of this page.

Finally fixed this problem: it was the flasher relay fuse. It wasn't blown but was making a poor connection in its holder. A new fuse fixed it. Hope this helps others with the same problem.
