Experience with Tarett Adjustable Drop Links?
Hi Pelicans :)
Does anyone have experience with the Tarett Engineering Adjustable Drop Link Set (Part #: PEL-TE-911RDLNK) sold by our host? (see image below) My brand new "LEMFÖRDER" drop links just failed. They are terrible - do not risk buying them based on all the awful reviews listed here and you can see how dramatically they failed after just 8 weeks via my build thread. So my mechanic has recommended going back to factory Porsche parts which is fine but I am curious to know if anyone has a good (or bad) review of the Tarret adjustable set? They are more affordable and the adjustability is appealing (I am 6"1 and 200lbs so I offset the to the drivers side quite car considerably). Would really appreciate any positive/negative feedback before ordering a set fro our host. Thanks!! :) dK http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1540217627.jpg |
I have not used them but plenty of friends have. They appear to work as intended.
I bought a set and then realized I needed a slightly different arrangement, so I sold them and fabbed something up from rod end suppliers. Tarett makes/sells great products, and I would not hesitate to employ these on a car like yours. I would add that just like the factory toe eccentrics, the eccentrics with these drop links must be installed correctly and everything must be tightened properly. This includes the camber eccentrics as well. If any of these move enough, the car drops, goes to max negative camber, and max toe out. My application is racing, and I occasionally hit berms/curbs. I have to lock my spring plate hardware in place carefully to ensure that nothing moves. I use an old school method for this which is shown in one or more threads here on PP. It is possible to use the Tarett links with this approach as well, you might just need to use slightly longer bolts and a thick washer with a notch for the camber eccentric head. |
Used them on several cars, for several years. They are a quality product. The over-sized joints are built to last.

I have a full Tarett suspension on my 911 and a completre front setup on my race car , never had any issues so far !
Another thing is that Ira is a great support if you have any questions regarding their products . |
These are a great upgrade from the stock ones (you get to adjust out pre-load). You also have two mounting options: you can attach at the spring plate (using the replacement eccentric they give you), or the banana arm (like stock). I chose to attach to the banana arm. Very high quality parts.

For some applications, it is NOT possible to attach these to the trailing arms-- spring plates only.

Thanks SOOO much everyone! This is greatly reassuring - I'll be placing an order asap. Really appreciate all the advice!
One last question though: Once I install would I need a realignment? To be clear only one side failed so I would replace this side, tighten to recommended torque and then replace the other side and do the same. I'd make the adjustments to the drop links with a friend of my same weight in the drivers seat while the car is on the floor (ie jacked). |
I recommend installing these with the car up on jackstands so the suspension is unweighted. So work in droop.
Very carefully take out the factory parts-- loosen those in a way that does not let the eccentric rotate/change your toe and/or camber settings. You only want to loosen the factory toe eccentric-- I would not touch anything else for fear of loosing your alignment settings. You may want to make sure all of those other bolts/nuts are cinched up before you loosen the toe eccentric. When you install the Tarett eccentrics, rotate them so they provide the necessary interference, and then torque everything down. I always recommend paint dots (you can use a sharpie as well) to mark everything back there so you can easily see if something changes. Once everything is cinched up, you can put the car back down and adjust one of the drop links for pre-load with driver weight in the seat. |
Awesome - thanks Mike!

I have the Tarett drop links you pictured.
Have had them on for a couple of years. I am also 6 foot and weigh 200lbs. I adjusted for my weight on the drivers side. Love it ! |
