Car lost electric power

Car '74 911
Today the car just lost all power to the ignition while driving. Engine stopped running, fuel pump stopped, dash gauges went out, lights still work, the radio work on position 1 on the ignition switch but went off at position 2. Looked at the battery and fuses saw no problems, after a few minutes the ignition lights on the dash came back on and the car started. Another mile the ignition gave out again. This time I had to call a tow truck. Once the tow truck came I turned the ignition switch back on to unlock the steering wheel then the car was loaded up on the truck. I left the ignition switch on then once back home I saw that the ignition lights on the dash were back on again.

I assume the electric portion of the ignition switch is bad, just checking here before I order a new one to see if I should be looking elsewhere for the problem.

There are three round plugs that lead from the cabin through the firewall. They sometimes come loose and a good place to start.

Yep. I had this problem as well. When my car would die, I would reach under the dash and bang the plugs. Eventually I cleaned all the contacts in the plugs and have been good ever since.

The car starts now and with the car running if I jiggle the round connector in the firewall that comes from the ignition switch the car will cut out. So the problem is at that connector.
Thanks for the help.
