where does it go and where is it?

I am in the process of reverting the heater backdate on my 85 911 to reinstall the blower.

in the process stumbled on a couple issues.

first, I cannot find the dang connector for the motor. several years ago did a full intake refresh and in the process did the heater backdate. so I suspect that wire/connector is hiding back there somewhere.

anyone have a pic or know where that wire comes from the harness? or where to look.

I pulled the air cleaner to get a better view back there, but so far no luck.

also in the process found what looks like a vac line from the cruise control disconnected. from searching PP threads found a comment that is just a vent to air to allow the CC to move in and out. is that correct?

car was running perfect before I started digging into the HVAC motor. so a good chance that is correct.

been searching PET and manual for both of these and just cannot find what I need.

off to the shop again and will take pics.

thanks.

Bueller?

My 81 has the major connector back by the left tail light area. 14 pin. There is another secondary connector on the structural beam between the two shocks. It is mounted on the top of the beam to the driver's (left) side of center. 12 pin.

Can't talk about the 3.2 with certainty.

Connector is just inside the fuel runners for 1 and2 coming off the main harness
The connector wire is almost 18 inches long

thanks for the reply and pic.

I was talking to Dennis (aka Timmy2) yesterday about an issue with my turn signal. he told me where that cable comes out of the harness and I was able to find it. as I suspected I had rolled it up and zip tied to the fuel rail in a way that had the connector hiding under the rail. will be installing that fan today.

Out of curiosity, what has precipitated the heater un-backdate (backdate to the future?)?

have been in the process of returning everything to stock.

I just sold it to a buyer from St Louis. during discussion and when he saw the car decided to not reinstall that blower. cleaner engine bay, why I did it in the first place, and does not expect to drive much in cold/winter weather.

this was the last of the items I intended to 'restore' to sell.

now back to focusing on why I sold it. my 78 930 conversion project that is totally dismantled and just starting to refresh suspension parts to rebuild.

keep wondering if I should have sold the project and kept that targa.... sigh....

move along, nothing more to see here .... move along. SmileWavy

here is a link to that build that will start having frequent updates now.

Yeah, I'm kicking around a heater backdate on my 1987 3.2, but I have to source the parts. I'm looking for something plug & play and a lot of the threads here mention some fitting/ fettling of the backdated / turbo duct being required.

yea I had to do a bit of hammering on it to fit. think the main issue was fitting around the distributor.
