Roll the windows down, gettin smokey in here. (oil leak)

I have an elusive oil leak that drips in the left side heat exchanger, not all the time but just when you come to an abrupt stop after a drive of 50-60 mph. Of course I can't get it to leak at all when the car is on jackstands.
Has anyone else had a similar leak that might could put me on the right track to a repair?

Would the sender produce enough oil to smoke?

I was wondering if maybe the crankcase breather hose has come loose?

Either way, same area.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

Can the sender be accessed with the motor in the car?

What engine is in your car?

Do a search here in forum for "trangle of death" to get an impression, lots of threads and pictures.

Flojo is right; best to know what engine you have...

For 3.2, the sender / TOD can be accessed with the engine in, but it is VERY DIFFICULT/impossible unless you:
  • Remove blower motor / heater ducting
  • Remove air cleaner
  • Do a partial engine drop and lower the engine 4-5 inches (search for threads here on best way to do this)

This way you will have half a chance to clean it up and check on leaks back there.

Good luck.

Looks like a motor drop is needed. I think I'll drive it until the (weak) clutch goes out.
