Clay, I'm glad you stopped being such a nice guy and told the whole story. We've both been patient with Joe but he's jerking us around and I really don't think he gives a *****. Screw him. I don't intend to havce anything further to do with him. I'm fixing his POS pipe at my own expense. I'll never buy a Fabspeed product again and I'll tell that to anyone who asks. What an *********.
BTW, I believe the piece is sold as being "T304 Stainless" - no mention of chromed steel flanges in the specs. Sounds like fraud to me.

It was probably easier (and cheaper) for Fabspeed to buy those and chrome them, rather than machine new from S/S.

Oh thats it. I'm buying a Dansk Premuffler now. I deal with crappy service from Venders every week and I don't need the drama on my days off! Thanks you guys and Pelican BB! I know I'll save grief going with the Dansk.

Doug, several points:
Are you familiar with the inlet flange on the 3.2? It's not a part that's going to be on a muffler shop shelf. Weird shape, one round port, one oval port, etc. The piece is presented in Fabspeed's literature as being stainless. If it has mild steel flanges it's not really all stainless is it? "All this fuss over a premuffler?" I couldn't agree more. Joe should have resolved the problem immediately and we wouldn't be having all this fuss. As far as power increase is concerned, read Anderson's book.

It's not so much the power increase alone, but also a little volume control. I've got a Dansk Dual out ALL stainless muffer on the car and with a straight pipe, it's just too loud, I felt like I was in high school again.
Anyway...I'm still looking for a vendor for the Dansk premuffler, I wish Pelican would special order some for us or something, I think we'd have a few sales!!! Come on Wayne,,,,please?

Okay, got the MILD STEEL inlet flange "ground" down and trued up using a large disk sander. Seems strainght and true, still doesn't quite fit in the jig like the stock cat, but close. I was afraid to go anymore as the thickness of the forward inlet flange was already thinner than I wanted. I'll give a test fit and go from there.

crikey, i've had bad fit from B+B and GHL, now Fabspeed. who do they hire to weld these things up? they all claim their jig is fine. so far, Monty wins, hands down. IMHO.

I thought it was the *outlet* flange that was giving trouble. Those are the "standard" ones. The inlet side is definitely NA at the corner store. Happy grinding!

Doug - forgiven! Please forgive my crankiness. I'm pretty pi$$ed about this whole issue.
Dickster - thanks for the lead! Checked the site, looks VERY promissing as the exchange rate is currently excellent, need to go back and look at shipping costs. I'd still rather buy it from Wayne.

Clay, CarreraCat, etc: anyone interested in a group buy? The current exchange rate makes the price extremely attractive, especially if we could gang up on shipping. I just got in on a group buy for some RUF bumpers, and it worked out very well. Let me know, I'll investigate further.

Update: I must have screwed up the currency conversion (probably hit Canadian $), because I just checked it again and it works out like this:
Dansk polished SS presilencer, 155 GB pounds, equals 243 US$, plus shipping. I've requested shipping for a quantity of 1, 3 and 6, but if they can be bought in the States for $319 I don't see the point. Sorry for any confusion.

I contacted Eurocarparts and they have offered a hefty discount right off the bat. I also requested shipping information in various quantities which I haven't received yet. The shipping costs will be the deal maker or breaker.
At this point it would be best for anyone who's interested to contact me directly by e-mail. I will probably proceed with making my Fabspeed (idea for new company name: Fabscrew) fit and I may not stay involved in this, not sure yet. But I'd be happy to pass the information along to anyone who wants to take it over.

Well, after some further digging, here is what I have found out...
Yesterday, I called Huntley and stated my concerns, and was told they would check into the lead time and get back to me. I forwarded the link to this bbs topic to both Huntley and Fabspeed via e-mail. Here is the reply I received from Huntley: "Thank you for the 'heads-up'. We have sold many of these, and have heard of no fitting issues. We have also installed many in house and have seen no issues. It is more likely that the cars(s) having issues have warped exhaust systems. Steel pipes like from Bursh can be easily pulled to fit whereas Stainless is less forgiving of miss-fits. I am confident that the likelihood of this issue on your car is low." I also received a pretty quick e-mail reply from Fabspeed: "Hi Brian, If you can do me a favor please mention the following ......" Fabspeed bought a latemodel stock 911 catalytic converter and are checking our fixtures/jigs.........we are rectifying the situation this week and should be able to ship parts to those affected shortly." This situation is odd........as some parts are off by a small amount and others are fine and no complaints are being received. No parts variability should occur need I say more. Nevertheless we are making refinements to the fixtures with added features so that a fitment isuue never presents itself again. We apologize for the inconvience to those that were affected. Have a great sping driving season. Have a great day Joe @ Fabspeed Motorsport" At any rate, perhaps they are getting the message and checking into it. I am going to sit tight and see how long it takes to receive the order, as my current cat still works fine. -BG

HA! What a freakin' joke! Complete and total damage control.
Huntley's response is total BS, as the problem is definitely not with warped exhaust systems! My '88 Carrera has 66K miles on it with the original exhaust system. When I unbolted the OEM cat and muffler there was no evidence of any stress anywhere. Huntley's BS is further exposed by Joe's response, which admits that there IS a problem. If Huntley claims to be unaware of any issues, it's because they don't want to be. As to the likelihood of this being an issue for you - let's see how long it takes you to get a Fabspeed part, and then if it fits or not. Joe's statement that some systems are off by a "small amount" is also total BS. Mine and Clays are off by a freakin' INCH! Yes, they've gotten the message, but Clay and I also got the runaround for a MONTH before Joe started to take any serious action. And so far his solution for us is "fix it yourself". Whatever, we'll soon have a MUCH better part available and hopefully at a lower cost. I wish you well BG, and I hope you're not disappointed.
