This is soooo cool... check out this C2 on eBay with this trick message mod in the rear reflector panel. You can type in your own message anytime you want!!

I am afraid I would go to jail or get shot really quick if I had that on one of my vehicles.

reed930 03-08-2003 03:29 PM

Wow! I'm just amazed this idea didn't catch on.

Are you joking?? Maybe this is the special edition "JC Whitney" C2? I wonder if it resets everytime you turn the ignition off to say "d*ckhead"?:)

rcwaldo 03-08-2003 04:50 PM

I would get into trouble with one of those message displays...

Something like @#!$%% OFF

Hey 89911, stop beating around the bush, and tell us how you really feel. Don't keep your feelings all bottled up inside. ;)

BTW, why don't we know what your real name is?

89911 03-08-2003 08:16 PM

Tyson, Hmmm, I see you also have a C2. Could it have the same option? Actually, it is sort of cool, but just not Porsche. As far as the name, The profile gives all the information, if not that, then my website (under reconstruction). I actually have wanted to change my user name. Who knew when I posted 3 years and 2000 post later, I would still be at this place.

yeah.. I can understand the question. IMO, there is a somewhat cultural difference from the west coast guys.. and I also believe that the N Calif & NW guys have a very tight personal group.. a wonderful group actually.. and I write with objective experience with many of them........Ron

Ahhhhh, Michael it is then. :)

Yeah I have a C2, sans rear lens message option. I'm low key. Don't even like personalized plates or license plate frames.

Ron, you're right about the West Coast being a different dynamic. I learned this at school. (Wyoming Tech) There were a lot of East Coast guys there. Definitely more reserved and less welcoming at first than West Coast and Mid-west people. But once you're in, you're family.

Out here, it seems most people are from somewhere else, so everyone has to be friendly at first and learn to fit in as soon as possible. Back East, I think it's more established, and you have to earn you're way in to the group.

Just my own observations. YMMV. :)

that's said like a gentleman.. I can say it's like to many animals in a small cage, LOL.. and the "group" can be like a herd of cats, LOL......... Ron

Tyson Schmidt 03-08-2003 09:44 PM

:D I'm not gonna touch that one Ron. ;)

Mikkel 03-09-2003 05:34 AM

COOL!!! I'd love to have one. But as someone mentioned above that'd probably get one into trouble ;)

Imagine the most used pre stored messages:

IDIOT
KEEP RIGHT
LEARN TO DRIVE
:D

And for the Beavis and Butthead fans: HEY BABY :p

Schuey 03-09-2003 06:27 AM

is that a red-neck option?

:)

Tyson Schmidt 03-09-2003 08:14 AM

I think I'd use it to make Cops laugh when I was getting pulled over. Might help you out of tickets.

actually in Calif. there is a fund that takes care of families of the PD disabled or killed in line of duty.. then they give donors a small plate to put on your rear lic. plate.. donation over $1g, I think, for the plate.. don't know about other states...........Ron

widebody911 03-09-2003 09:24 AM

I think that's a wishful urban legend; I see those plates FS at flear markets.

CHP 11-99 Foundaiton

Thom:

Its not an urban legend. I think Ron is referring to the CHP "11-99 Foundation" (www.chp1199.org).

Its an organization that supports the employees and families of CHP officers and personnel who were disabled or killed in the line of duty; I joined a few years ago. To become a Life Member the one time dues are $1500; annual fees are less. With a lifetime membership you receive a license plate frame, wall plaque, wallet card and monthly newsletter. It is a very good organization and well worth supporting considering all the CHP does for us. I support the CHP and the local PD regardless, but it doesn't hurt to have the card in hand when/if stopped. Obviously, there is no guarantee they will give you a "pass". The license plate frame is on my wife's car since, believe it or not, she is the one who is more likely to be pulled over.

Back to the tail light message mod. I know where that would look perfect. On a Honda, Toyota, Acura, etc, etc. Can you say RICER????
Tom

Tyson Schmidt 03-09-2003 04:19 PM

Rrrrrr.......iiiiiiii......ccccccccccccccc........ .....damn! Nope I can't say it.
