83 SC Spark Plug Wire Routing

Hello Pelicans,

Can anyone point me to any photos of how to route spark plug wires and how they should be secured on an 83 SC 3.0L CIS motor?

Here is what Im working with so far:

I have seen some motors where the wires run along the top of the fan housing but mine seem to be a tad too short and want to stay on the fiberglass shroud instead. They are used wires. Maybe from a 2.7 motor?

Also there are so many mounting holes on top of the fiberglass shroud its tough to know what went where. When I got my engine it originally came with some aftermarket yellow wires just flopping around so I dont have a good starting point.

Thanks in advance.

The wires do go across the shroud near the top, but not at the top. Might be enough to get you there.

Should be no difference in plug spacing for any of the air-cooled engines.

You’ve got it. There is a little barbed nub on the bottom of that piece of rubber that goes in the hole in the shroud to secure them.

Your engine looks beautiful, btw, I guess mine looked similar in 1983!
