Ignition coil

Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement ignition coil for an '84 Carrera? Something other than the Bosch replacement part or a Porsche coil?

Maybe an MSD. If so, what part number is the correct one?

Thank you.

The Parts Klassik is the most authentic repro. If you use an MSD it needs to be mounted vertically.

I believe Parts Klassik makes a CDI coil. This will not work well with the 84 Motronic ignition system.

Guys, thank you for responding. This is for a friend.

I had to replace the coil in my 911SC. I made the mistake of buying the Bosch silver coil - it lasted less than a year. I got the MSD that Peter Zimmerman recommended and it has been great.

So, what CAN one use as a better coil replacement for a 3.2 with motronic?

Not sure if this suits a 3.2 but might be worth asking Jonny Ignition Coil - Classic Retrofit

There Appears to be a variety of coils available on the pelican website for a stock 1985, 3.2 (S. Wong chip). Any idea which is the best one? Best value?

The 3.2 Carrera coil in black [Bosch] is used across the Porsche line. 944, 928, 911
The recyclers should have a stack of them
