911 cabriolet bikini top

My father gave me his 84 cab that was severely neglected. The top was in bad shape and the car sat for a long time outside. This led to a fair amount of interior corrosion. My main focus is to strip down the paint and rust on the inside and por 15 the whole cabin area. My thought is that once the inside is sound im only going to drive the car on nice days anyway so a full top isn't a priority. I've had a few miatas in the past and always liked the bikini top look. I was wondering if anyone has done something similar with a 911. I haven't found any pictures that would give me a good idea of how it would come out. I don't want to do anything that would require modifications to the body as i would eventually like to be able to put the conv. Top assy. Back in. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Here are some pics of the miata tops im refering to.

I’ve seen it work on boxsters but the slope at the rear of a 911 may not suit a bikini top well?

I bet, with the right roll bar, and attached to a bolt at the rear of the cab top opening, it would work fine.

I will be making one for my Targa. I run a bikini on my Scout II, year round, and love it.

It'll be a much lighter alternative to the factory Targa top.

I'm planning on fabricating a front attachment piece and getting my local upholstery shop to make the top to my specs.

I’m sure it will work just fine, it just might look hideous.
One way to find out though.
