86 carrera oil pressure sensor -case adapter fitting?
Hi,
I am looking for a fitting adapter for the oil pressure sensor to the engine case. My sender does screw right into the case but there is no way to really tighten it as it is so close to the case.. Any thoughts on this? Keep in mind I put this engine together from a basket case so I am not sure how it may have been from the factory.. Thanks for your help..

![]() This is a possible solution? I don't have an aluminum block that you speak of?

No. I just want whatever is supposed to be there stock.. I am assuming it's a larger fitting or is it supposed to go where the tensioners go?

Gotcha that is for the tensioner oil line.. I think I need to move the sender there.. I was talking about the fitting previously placed by the on engine thermostat like the earlier engines.. That helps thanks..

The. Tensioner is fed from the oil line, not the he pressure block

Yes I know that.. We all were talking 2 different locations.. The latest block pictured goes off the case closest to the fan and on a carrera has the pressure sender there. On an earlier engine the oil pressure sender at the back of the engine by the engine t stat.. I was brain farting thinking that the pressure sender remained in that location for the carrera ..
I have it figured out now.. To note for those not following I built a 2.4 s engine from a basket case and am using carrera gauges for my 914-6 conversion thus my questions..

Thanks I have that. I will attach a picture so you can see what I was trying to do and will have to adapt back to this way.. ![]() This is my engine.. Becuase it's going in a 914-6 wanted to put the idiot light switch by the fan so the pressure switch was more accessible..

I mounted my sender on my new SC motor up by the breather like the old motors.
The sending unit is the same either mounted in the front or the back of the motor. Your 2,4 should have the case adapter by the thermostat. As mentioned, you should be able to mount the sender there. Sounds like you just need the sealing washer.

I am guessing the adapter you have looks like this.

Yes but that is designed for the earlier senders with smaller threads.. The carrera gauge requires the new sender which is the same size thread as the case..

Making it more difficult........
Ben,
Why are you installing the oil pressure switch at front of the engine and the oil pressure sender at the rear? What is the logic for doing this set up? Thanks. Tony |

1st the earlier engines were like this(mine is a 2.4 and this is how the factory did it) 2nd easier to get at on a 914-6..

So, I didn't know you had one of those sending units. They do make a 10mm threaded sender that will work with the Carrera gauges. You have a Carrera gauge in your 914 with a 2,4? That is a 150 psi gauge?
