Porsche reSee works build

New project at the Metal Surgeon: a 1969 912 which will essentially have the reSee works branding stamp applied along with aluminum components, some handmade, and some bought. Original steel mildly customized to aid mechanical air flow.

The drive train/mechanics;as directed by reSeeworks.com /Project manager Chris Pomares.
It's a 1969 52,000 mile car that's going back to it's original Ultra Blue color. The owner who is part of this community want's to keep it a 4 cylinder car. It will get a small bump in displacement from 1.6 to 2.7 POLO. As Jon does his thing, the rest of the car is being refurbished. Window trim to Tru6, gauges to Seattle Speedometer, transmission upgrade, (Wavetrac TBD, different gears, all new bearings, etc.). Elephant Racing stuff, Rebel Racing stuff, brakes to PMB (vented M rear, vented ATE Euro 323iS front, cryoed rotors), etc., etc.

Here's a few original shots of the project before disassembly.

Chris Pomares is the Project manager on this build also founder of reSee works.

a quote from Chris,

reSee works is a place for those of us that like to personalize our cars and have a little Outlaw, Renegade, or Rgruppe blood flowing through our veins.
That was copied off my website. Â* reSee works - Where a vision becomes reality - Home.
I've had the good fortune to work with Dave DiMaria (Vintage Car Works) for a couple years restoring cars exactly like they left the factory. Stock is great but it's not for me. To be honest I relate to Ferdinand Porsche when he said, "I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself".
Whatever sport, hobby, I've taken an interest in my whole life, I've personalized my equipment. After spending time with any mass produced thing I end up personalizing it. I re-See it. I find little niches if you will. Like a 4 cylinder 911 engine in a 900 series long hood car. The car has been written up 3 times. If I had built the 200th 912-6? Maybe if I was Daniel Ricciardo's dad. There are now 3 on the road and 6 to 8 more in the works that I know of. I like the challenge of doing what's never been done before.
It has attracted people who want one. Now it's turned into a small niche of like minded souls.

I've been very fortunate to work with someone like Jon the Metal Surgeon and several others in the Vintage Porsche world. But my greatest bit of good fortune is having the owner of this car be someone who has turned out to be a great friend. I'll leave it up to him to determine if he wants his name revealed.

The process, annealing followed by methodical jig chasing so not to overstretch to rapidly and split the aluminum.
