New York (Westchester) Help Requested! Rotors and pads

All - I am contemplating embarking on a brake service after the winter.

I’m mechanically handy but this would be my first attempt on a brake service and somewhat apprehensive about tackling the job myself.

I am looking for help from any experienced OR just enthusiastic weekend mechanics.

Im willing to pay if needed.

So please reply back or send me a PM if you would be interested and are in the NYC Westchester area.

Thanks in advance for suggestions and offers to help!

Antonio

Antonio,
Everything is pretty much here on the forum, somewhere, you'll have to dig around and look, then ask specific questions when you get stuck. It's great to have answers from someone who knows what they are doing. Real experts are here you can get several viewpoints. I would help but I am no expert, and I am finishing up my suspension. Is your garage well lighted and heated? Yes? then you are already way ahead of me!

I’ve been doing some research on the forums. I have some knowledge.
Yes, garage is well lighted minus the heat

Antonio,

I’m in NJ but I’m also a noob and won’t be of much technical help but I would like to assist in any way I can (and also learn from the experience).

It's pretty easy. Pick up a Bentley manual and you shouldn't have much trouble.

Antonio, What's up neighbor?

I'm happy to lend a local Porsche brother any tools, my Bentley, and even a heater.
You supply the White Alba Truffle and Barolo.

You probably can do this solo, but it's always nice to have some moral support.

I'm a total n00b, but I've replaced the rear rotors & front/rear pads on my '86.
The front rotors are more involved (Remove entire hub and bearings, etc)
So, two heads are better than one.

While I'm there, we can bleed your brake lines.

In fact, if we're taking your rear rotors off, I can also show you how to adjust the parking brake.
For me, it was easier with rotor off.

Hey man!

White truffle and Barolo!!!

Purchased the Bentley. Going to give it a shot solo. I’ll keep you posted if I get stuck for any reason.

Pretty simple R & R for the most part once the calipers are off and out of the way. I find the parking brake adjustment to be the PITA in the job. Damn adjustment hole is so small.
You have a Bentley and extra hands and should be able to breeze thru it. I would follow Sugar's suggestion and not only bleed the brakes but change the fluid while you are doing everything else.

I have a Motive Power bleeder you could borrow. It’s modded to use compressed air. I have a 20oz CO tank you could use or a portable air tank. I’m in White Plains.
