Question 1983 flag mirror fix

Dear Friends

My flag mirror on my 1983 SC is wobbling, I wonder if there any adjustment to make (more tension on the spring or something) to make the mirror more tight and play free

On the open position the mirror is OK, but if I jiggle it a little bit or try to close, there is a lot play in the intermediate positions and the force needed to fold the mirror is to little

I'm attaching a video ( please disregard the fact that the base of the mirror is loose on the door it self, it's not this play that I'm talking about)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg02qEKZzZo&feature=youtu.be

Thank you all

Flag mirror tensioner screw.........

Ricardo,

Do you have a manual or power flag mirror? The power flag mirror needs more work and effort to adjust the tensioner. First, remove the flag mirror from the door and inspect the backside of the pivot mount. You will find the slotted bolt (tension adjuster) where the electrical wires go through for power mirror.

You will need a special two-prong screw driver or tool (for power assisted mirror) to make the necessary adjustment. Or improvise something to tighten the bolt. For manual, use a wide screwdriver to adjust the tensioner bolt.

Tony
