Porsche Crest Seat Help

Can anyone id these seats? I know they are not from my 72 Targa. I am thinking of recovering or replacing, definitely relplacing if it is not a Porsche seat.

Thanks,

Pete

The shot is a bit tight but they look like later model seats. I have seats from a 77 in my 73.

Seat Recovering

Hey guys, whats the success rate been like with the seat recovery kits that do not involve any sewing? A lot of kits suggest removing the original materials and just slip on replacement materials. Does this work with quality results?

I recently did this on the seats of my 83SC and I am very happy with the results, for less than $300.00 I recovered both front seats and everyone that has seen them say they look great!!It took about 7-8 hours for each seat, this included taking the upright portion of the seat off of the bottom, removing the old cover and then installing the new.If you do a search you will see my write up and pics,I would do it again if needed!!Hope this helps.

Send a message via AIM to 82SC
no

I'd put my money on that they are the later sport seats which are PORSCHE equipment. (from the late 80's to md 80's)

They also look like they were recovered...give us a larger shot

value of the seats in good condition is 600 is minimum for a pair. I've seen as high as 1000

I paid 600 for a 9/10 non-recovered stock seats

MJ

Sportseats 1980-1984 (SC & Carrera). .. and as 82SC & GeorgeK point out; they have been recovered.
. . .the center pad should have perforations and top stitching.

Here's a little graphic guide I put together for 70s-80s sport seats. The difference between the late 70s and early 80s sport seat had me confused...

Porsche Crest More Pics

Hey guys, thanks for the response!! Here are some more pics. If anyone can suggest one of Wayne's seat recovery kits that would be great. The only other problem I have with these seats is the side seat release level on the passenger seat. I think it maybe disconnected since it does not operate, some of the tech diagrams indicate a rod/lever mechanism.

There are two cables that drop (from the release lever) down to each cornner. . .if one comes off (just one side) the seatback won't unlatch. Look from behind, at the lower cornners; and look for movement while lifting the the release lever.
It could be just one side came unhooked. . .though it's likely a broken cable. . . .then you'll need to do some taking apart.
