Why you should upgrade your G50 shift fork
 

While I had the engine out doing major maintenance, I decided to replace the clutch. I am at 100K miles, so I thought (and inspection confirmed) the clutch needed replacement. After doing research on PP, and inspecting the shift fork pictured below, I now know why I had so much pedal pressure and clutch chatter. Looking at the picture, you see the shift fork with the release lever shaft partially inserted. Those little gold grooves you see on the shaft, that is from the needle bearings that failed and gripped the shaft so hard that it wore grooves and became difficult to push.

With the new clutch and the retrofit kit WITH THE BRONZE BUSHINGS, the car drives like it is brand new!

For those of you preparing to do a clutch job, don't forget this step!

Mine looked worse than that at 82k miles. It's just a matter of time. I don't even think you can buy the OEM forks anymore. The upgrade is a must.

Wow, mine's had the update, but I had never seen the potential problem.

BTW, it's a good idea to shink the size of your photo's to no wider than about 600-700 pixels. Most people use a screen res of 800x600 or 1024x768. Even with mine set to 1600x1200 which is pretty rare even these days your picture is still larger than my screen. Most people on this board will only see about 1/4 of your photo at a time.
