76 911S Wheel and Tire Options

Recently purchased a 76 911S and I am going to give it some TLC and make some mods. I would like to increase the wheel and tire size - what wheel and tire size you might recommend that will not cause any fender rub? My first go at this I will have some basic questions...
currently on:

205/55/16 Tires

Thanks in advance!

I use 205/60/15 on the stock Fuchs. I have run 215/60/15 on the rear which I think gives better traction.

Caution even 205/60-15 on stock Fuchs can rub

There is some difference side to side. My 74 with stock 6x15 Fuchs and the ubiquitous 205/60-15 pirelli rubbed on the drivers side but had a fingers clearance on the right. This is a straight, uncrashed, very stock car, with stock alignment specs.
You can dial in more negative camber to gain more clearance, but this can cause more rapid tire wear.
If you have some friends with similar wheels, you might give them a test drive if they clear the fenders, don't forget to check both sides.
That is a sweet looking car.
Good luck
Chris

If that's a picture of your actual car, I have to say that is a nice fit already.

I had the same issue on the driver side too with some tires on 16” rims with 205/50 tires; got fed up with the rubbing, so went with 195’s now.

76 911S Wheel and Tire Options

Agree with the others here that that fitment already looks great. Maybe paint the center caps black to match, and do a ride height adjustment (which should be easy given the torsion bars) first before making any drastic/expensive decisions on wheels.

Mine is on 16s at roughly Euro height and I think it looks awesome. I was thinking about going 17s but I'm totally happy with it as it sits.

(Mine's on the left, the one on the right is at US ride height)

Edited to add:
This is owned by an acquaintance of mine, and was built by my mechanic (Dave at ButziGear). These pictures are the same car on the same wheels (albeit refinished wheels) just with the ride height set correctly. Thought this might be relevant since it's the same color and also a narrow body. And yes he did a Euro light conversion as part of the protect, I promise it's the same car. Lol.

Yeah, me too, I went with 195/50 direzzionales, sticky, better gearing and no rubbing.

If the goal is to go wider, I believe you can fit 16x6 and 16x7 fuchs with 205/55-16 and 225/50 16 tires, respectively.

Drop that puppy like 2 inches and paint the center caps. you'll be good for a while.
