Porsche Crest Installing speakers into my 911 sc Targa.

As it is right now, I only have the German version Blaupunkt with door speakers only. I want to upgrade(with a Sony Deck) this but where would I place the other speakers?? I see what looks like to be speaker grill holes on the Targa Bar, but there is no placement for rear speakers.

Any suggestions on this issue?

Thanks, Bill

The targa bar does not have speakers. Those are only air vents. I thought all had rear speakers, my 78 Targa has them, 4x6 i believe.

Air vents. Is that for incoming air?? How do you control that. Where are your speakers located?

SC Targa radio

I put 6" poly woofers in my doors, 4X6 Coax midranges in the rear deck and Audax tweeters in the Targa side panels.
Three way equalizer ontop on the center console- see photo.

Sorry, air vents are the wrong term. How about "breathers". I guess to stop moisture from building up inside there.

Breathers, ok. Moisture in the car, or just in that piece of the roof.

(what do you call the section by the way?)

the 'vents' in the targa bar do not have any controls - they are passive.

no speakers in the rear deck? most have 4x6 speakers installed back there

I'm not sure exactly when they started coming with rear deck speakers, but I know it was mid-late 70's. But there's still room to cut out the read deck yourself and put them in, even bigger than 4x6. Some people take out the original rear deck and store it and do the cut out on a replacement.

My 76 does not have speaker holes in the lid. Thats ok, ive done enough speaker installation in the past that I can cut the holes myself, and install some. Or save it like Targa 911 said, and make my own (have done that to a couple of other cars ive owned)

Hi Bill,
My '74 has 6 speakers installed by the PO and the sound is great; There's a spot available next to your feet that works great for tweeters, then I've got speakers in the door and beside the rear seats. I've seen them behind the rear seats too?
Here's a pic, the tweeters don't show because of shadow line, but you can see where I mean..... hope it helps ya out.

I've also got a CD changer and amp mounted under the hood - No DVD player though?

Yes, the tweeters are mounted at your top arrow.
The rear speakers are beside the rear seats, they are a mid-range 4" diameter speaker. I don't have my car here, but post a pic of your rear seat side panel and I'll show you were they are?

Hmmmm. I dont know if that will work on my Targa. Looks like my seat backs would be in the way of where those speakers are sitting. Maybe the back lid is the good canidate for the speakers.
