Horn-like noise coming from 3.2 engine compartment
This noise first happened today. It occurs when the ignition is on, and also while the engine is running. Any ideas? Car is a 1984 911 (3.2 engine). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The valve behind the oil filler. Pull off the small vacuum hose and plug the hose.

Are the heat levers next to the e brake handle pulled up? My first guess is the auxiliary fan for the heater. Try turning off the heat at the 2 temp control levers by pushing them fully down and see if the noise goes away. If that fixes the noise you can unplug the fan mounted above left of the engine. Heat will be a bit more defendant on engine RPM, but other than that you shouldn't have any issue running with it disconnected, till you get a chance to fix the dry bearing in the fan.
