Stripped out trailing arm drop link mount
Took my car for a spin and seem to have lost the bolt keeping the sway bar drop link to the trailing arm, it appears that the threads in the trailing arm might be stripped out. Has anyone had this same experience and know of a way to fix without replacing the whole trailing arm?

Had this happen with my 88. I had installed Tarret adjustable drop links a year or two before, one day heard a noise.... right rear drop link dragging !
Got new bolt and some loctite red, good to go ! |
Sway attachment at rear location depends on whether it's a factory sway bar (trailing arm mount) or aftermarket (spring plate mount).
If the trailing arm threads are toast, you may have to go with an aftermarket bar that uses one of the spring plate eccentrics to mount each drop link. See images on Google for a comparison. Sherwood |
I have not had this problem on my 87 Carrera.
If the threads are damaged, I would try using a thread chase to clean them up or use a TIME-SERT. |
