915 tranny cooler fitting type

Hi everyone. I have a ROW 84 Carrera and when I put stainless brake lines on I believe I wore a teeny tiny hole in my tranny cooler. I patched it up OK with JB weld and some other bandaids but I know it's not forever. I was thinking about getting a new one, but ideally a cheaper option is running a small universal cooler. I know some people have definitely done this. My question is how do I convert the fitting of the euro cooler coil to something like a 6 AN fitting? Does anything know what these fittings are called?

There was a shop making up adapters for 944-series transmissions, 9xx-parts, very similar to your needs, perhaps identical (I don't have the 915 parts on hand to measure). Unfortunately the part no longer appears on their web site. Alternatively, check out this solution that Rennlister came up with: the lower item in the photo is identical with the 9xx-parts item, if memory serves.

I'd love to hear back as to whether Pacific Oil Coolers can repair the loop. The material is thin, will be something of a challenge to TIG.

Good luck!

You might check with mb911 to see if Ben might be able to weld it up for you. He’s quite the artist in repairing parts.

Silver solder, at the temps and pressures in the system it would be plenty. Letting Pacific use the appropriate medium would insure success. It’s crazy for a few hundred(?) dollar repair, vs a homemade kludge, risking a very expensive overhaul/replacement. If the gears and shafts get hot enough, pretty sure they are expensive paperweights. Maybe Matt M. could chime in.
