Here we go .. '76 3.2 swap (with some pics inside!)

A few weeks ago I bought myself a nice engine/transaxle combo :

it consists of a top-end rebuilt 3.2 engine and a matching 915 trans. I was surprised when I found that the combo came from a RoW car, so it has the high C/R pistons inside (which is good/bad in my case, more about that later!) and the trans. has the RoW cooler option. The engine has been top-end rebuilt by a professional 911 specialist in UK so no need to do anything with it, on the hand, I know nothing about the trans. so I took it apart just to be sure, and to my luck it looked very good. So everything mechanical is done and ready.

I paid $15,000 for the engine/trans along with ALL the wirings/sensors and the DME.

I know having a RoW is a good thing because you'll get 231hp instead of a 204, but my plan is to turbo that engine, now I'm not sure if its even a good idea to add boost to a 10.3:1 C/R engine, My plan is to use a small turbo (like the GT30) at about 5-7 psi maximum, what do you guys think?

I just dropped the old 2.7 engine and will soon add some pics as I go on.

Cheers,
Hamad

I'm a bit confused about my engine numbers, it stamped as a 930/20 which indicates a RoW 3.2 231 hp, but it has a weired serial number "68F82287", I searched all over google and found nothing about what 68F refers to!

The F program was produced aug 84- july 85

The 930/20 should be a RoW 231hp.

I can't find a 68F8 can you verify the number / take a pic? Most likely it's a "3" not an 8 that would jive with a ROW carrera motor from that time period.

If you have a proper EFI setup, you should be okay with 10.3:1 and low boost since you will have precise control of the ignition timing. The GT30 might be a little on the small side for those boost levels, you may want to consider something like a GT35, that way you will be on the lower end of the compressor efficiency curve and, more importantly, operating at a lower temperature line. I have a Borg Warner S360 running 7 psi and I'm at the lowest temperature line on the compressor map. Intake temps are ambient at all times with the intercooler I have.
