Oil leak from JB weld external
I used tenactin spray to confirm my oil leak source.
It’s from my external case defect mend (second time). Wonder if anyone had luck patching over the existing JB weld. This type is not so easily removed. |

My buddy used this on his Audi, hit a parking curb and cracked the pan. Drove the car for years afterwards.

Acetone softens/loosens cured JB Weld when soaked for long enough - you could wet a piece of rag with it and then place it on the case spot (maybe holding it in place with a piece of wood jammed in, etc) . . . rewet the rag a few times and you will eventually have no trouble removing the JB.

I googled tenactin spray to find out what that is so now I have to look at targeted ads for jock itch for next few months. Thanks for that.

Mike, Sorry to hear your crotch is a target for advertising
![]() On the leak, I tried three applications of acetone. Although, it made some come off, I could see it would be a while. I went with wire brush wheel on the old JB, copious amounts of carb cleaner and a heavy layer of new JB weld epoxy. (It was what a guru recommended). It’s all good so far. No need to apply tinactin as yet.
