Bad idle SOLVED

Simple fix but gives me a little confidence in making this car a dependable driver.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546045851.jpg

Sorry... what are we looking at above and which engine (SC/3.2)?

Very informative thread, Thank You. Now I know the POV
was installed backward, the reason that the underside of the air filter element is beat to crap.
And looks like I have a split airbox too, but the engine runs nicely.

If the underside of your air filter is 'beat to crap' then you have been backfiring.....did the pop off leak prior to the backfires or did they mess your box up.
Hate them or love them....mine, properly installed...has saved my box on two occasions in 3 years now....idles fine, runs great even after those two backfires.

I bought this car as a disassembled project, the injection had been disassembled by a previous owner (R.I.P) that attempted to repair the CIS, never got it running. I bought the car and had the CIS rebuilt (Thanks Brian).
The engine has ran perfectly, no backfires until recently when the fuel pump started to intermittently stop working, then I experienced a couple of backfires and rough running.
The car came with a damaged K&N air filter that I plan to change.
The P.O. didn't throw away the original fuel pump, I tested it on the car and works fine except a fuel leak around the electrical terminals. I've sent it off to the rebuilder in CA. that was recommended on this forum.
I'm sure my airbox is broken, most of the screws are stripped but the engine seems to not mind. Clutch change in the future that I plan to do the airbox and address a few oil leaks.

The forum software automatically aligns the photos in landscape mode so that the long edge is always horizontal; obviously not an easy thing to change.

Choosing the “square” option before taking a picture solves it.

I did read in a separate post recently that the early CIS cars cannot be fitted with the newer SC airboxes that have the cold start injector runners.

I don't know anything more about this. Just a heads up.
