question about Targa Window Frame Connection

Hi all,

See the diagrams below. My question is about the removal of old and installation of new window frame connection, parts 911-542-065-41-M100 (left) and 911-542-066-41-M100 (right). This is labeled 12 on the diagram.

The screws (labeled 14 on the diagram) that attach this part to the window frame on top are of course easy to find. However, I'm wondering about the rivet (labeled 13 on the diagram) that is under the window guide (labeled 3 on the diagram).

Before I really disassemble this thing, I want to make sure I fully understand what to do

Does the entire window have to be removed from the door to replace the window frame connection?

Is the window guide glued in or just pressed in? Or, is there a way to remove the screw at the bottom of the window channel (parts 5, 7, 8, and 10) and then remove the window guide to get to the window frame connection?

Once you get all this apart, how is the rivet removed/replaced? Do you just pry the window frame connection off and press a new rivet in?

Thanks!

Todd

Yes, everything has to come apart.Even the vent must be separated from the window frame. I got everything from our host, order extra rivets. The hardest part is getting them properly flattened out, you need a counter in the channel. Replace window channel and wing rubber while you are in there.
Mark frame height before removing.

Thanks! So, I now have the whole window apart. How do I get that corner connector out? Do I drill out the rivets? Just want to be careful...

Forget that last question...kind of...I found this thread, but it doesn't quite answer the question of how to properly get the rivets out or in, but is still helpful...

hit them with a punch to mark them for your drill. Start a bit small

Thanks @RSTarga - parts ordered. Next weekend I'll do it.
