Looking for Porsche-oriented machine shop in S.E.

Looking for proven Porsche-oriented machine shop in S.E. USA for case, crank and head work like Ollies. No offense to Ollies here... Prefer putting money into parts than shipping. From & back to is Miami.

Bob... $125 to ship 915 is less than I would have guessed.

Thanks Bob! Happy Holidays back to you!

Now for general discussion, I brought my flywheel in for resurfacing to a "no name" (non Porsche) shop in Akron that has been around since maybe 1938.

I was freaked because they were not Porsche specific.

I told/asked the head guy there that there was a step in the flywheel face that he needed to be aware of.

He looked at me and then a smile came to his face.

It was a smile that said, gently, do you have any idea what you are talking about? I have seen a flywheel or two with steps.

Just saying Porsche specific shops may not be all that.

Food for thought.

I hear you Bob... Makes sense. Thing of it is... putting case and heads into unknown hands would keep me up at night. If I have to, will ship to Ollies for peace of mind. Perhaps there's shop of equal caliber to O's that's closer to Miami.

JB Racing

I worked at JB racing for 12 years, Ask for Jim Higgs, short of crank and cam grinding they can do whatever you need on air and water cooled (GT3 based) engines, CNC machines, engine dyno.

Will... hope all's well with you! Plan with engine is a reciprocating weight reduction and ultra balancing. Ultimately looking for silky smooth operation---durability. For machining am planning to clean case & oil bores, maganflux bits, knife the crank, boat tail case, moon cut cylinders, balance crank-fly-pulley, larger squirters, regrind rockers, new valve guides, cut seats and valves, check springs, design custom pistons with Mahle (F1 format), custom Carillo rods (with forced pin lubrication)---no more than 0.5 gm deviation on this stuff. Am guessing new cylinders are in order. If so will get LNE 98mm Nikies. New cams if needed. Possibly EFI (MS III) and EDIS if I have the pizz to wrap my head around that stuff. Few months worth of project. Still planning and budgeting.

Great idea doing Elements as gifts! Damm fine gift-thinking!

Happy New Year back to you!

+1 for JB Racing, had my rod bolts installed and rods redone along with a crank inspection and polish. Great guys to deal with and two years later the motor still runs like a top.

Memphis Motor Werks has a very impressive machining facility and does great work. They do the machine work for a few of the more well known engine builders in the Southeast and Texas.

Nice to see positives adding up for JB Racing. Thanks for commentary guys. Also thanks to Sig for MMW. Little further away but will look into their capabilities and history all the same.
