DME relay news
My 85 911 has had this weird problem for several months, at about 4000rpm it would bogg down like it had a governor. I changed everything but never the DME relay. I always thought they were for cars that all of a sudden would not start. Anyway, I had an extra in glove box, installed it and now the car is running much better!! Has anyone else has this happen where it helped the car run better? Thanks, nick

My 86 just died a sudden death when the DME relay died, no warning or other symptoms. In fact I had just driven it about 200 miles and it worked fine. Single fatal heart attack, as we say in the business.

Never mind. I found an old post in this site that said the relay does give signal to the DME but also to the fuel pump. That area of my 33 year old relay could have been corrupted causing the fuel starvation at 4000 rpm. At any rate, car runs much better .
