ATTN. Sacramento area Pelicans...
Hey Pelicans, is there anyone out there in the greater Sacramento/Placer County vicinity who has the four-pronged special socket for tightening the "castellated" ball joint nut and would be willing to loan it out to me.
I removed the old ones with a dosing of Tri Flow followed by couple of rat-tat-tat bursts using a blunt chisel on my cheapo air hammer and the nut started to spin. Another nudge or two later and it spun off with fingertips. Surprisingly, there was minimal damage to only one of the slots in the nut, but the new joints come with new nuts/washers/cotter pins, so I wasn't going to reuse them anyway. I thought I hit paydirt when I found a 4x4 axle nut socket at the FLAPS for $20 bucks, but it didn't sit on the the nut quite right and I knew using it would be damage waiting to happen... which leads me to this request. Worse comes to worse, I suppose I could rat-tat-tat the thing tight going the opposite direction with the hammer. I figure if the old one was torqued properly and it removed okay with it, why wouldn't tightening it a similar amount approximate the same torque value. I mean, it ain't like the nut is gonna spin off if the spring washer tabs are engaged into a notch or two, right? Opinions on going that route if I can't borrow the socket for ten minutes?

Thanks to you both! If quicksix doesn't have it, I'll get the one from Amazon.
