modifying dansk sport muffler

Hi Gents

Just got my car back from the dyno and they said my muffler is restricting some ponies.
2.7 stock with SSIs and Dansk 1 out with itbs and efi (167hp at wheels)
I really enjoyed this thread and wonder if I could modify my dansk to a 2 out?
Would the internals be similar to the old 2 outs?

Sport Muffler v2.0

wouldn't mind a bit more volume, but would like to avoid drone of course
Thoughts??

Can you share the plots?

My butt dyno says I have a flat spot around 5000 rpm.

I’d be curious to see your 2.7 behavior from 4000-6000 to see if the SSI and dansk 2-1 sport muffler shows a torque dip in that range.

That’s what I feel. Be interesting to see if you have one too

Connecticut, winter, no dyno for me until April 🙁

Wow. That’s hot, even for us in July. At least you can drive. 😉

Drone is tough to avoid. It sort of goes with the territory on a dual out imho. For me, the drone happens at very specific RPM range which I would guess to be somewhere around 2-3k. Most of my driving is above that.

are you running the original CIS system? it would make sense if you were tuning carbs or a contemporary efi system to get on a dyno. seems like if you dyno'd with the limited tuning of the CIS intake you might have had a second muffler there for install during the session.

No CIS, EFI with ITBs hence the dyno

Im curious before I cut the thing open, what the internals look like. Anyone know if a dansk sport is similar to the old factory 2 outs?

Maybe its better to buy a dansk sport 2 out muffler (or the redesigned mk)and sell old one? Sounds like a fun project though, but I have to admit, I hate drone. I realise this is an issue with 2 outs, but the dansk seem to be less offensive than others??

Muffler Guts

Not sure how similar the Dansk 2 in 1 out is, but here's a link to some 1 in mufflers with the tops cut off & made into 2 out:

SC, Carrera Bischoff Muffler Modification, Mod, Gut, Gutting, Dual, Two Out

Mine sounded great BTW,

Good luck,
