Anyone use silicon bronze or aluminum bronze welding rod??

Was thinking about trying some silicon bronze for real thin not structural metal. Anyone have any experience with it or aluminum bronze?? Does it take paint well??

Hi,
I've used silicon bronze filler rod with my TIG welder a few times. If the access behind the weld is poor such that a dolly won't fit on the back side of a weld, then silicon bronze is a good choice. It requires less heat input and creates less distortion.
I've put epoxy primer over it and didn't have any problems. Of course clean well and sand with 80 grit before priming.
What's your application?

I was thinking about using it for sunroof delete panel and some other projects where I want to bond steel and aluminum together.

I wouldn't use silicon bronze on a roof panel, but that just me. The roof is more structural than you think. The mass of that large panel and vibrations would crack the welds in my opinion.
