What inserts in Boge strut determination
Hello,
I’ve got Boge struts (no rollpin), from years ago at Mayo performance (21 years) I was told my strut is a Bilstein (IIRC) by the young man who was testing them for wear. We were chasing a front end shimmy in my steering wheel (I fixed this by installing new ball joints some 20 years ago). He took off the top nut off the shock tower and pulled and pushed in the shocks said they felt a little weak (maybe he felt). Anyway, is there a way I can tell what the insert is (Boge vs Bilstein) without changing/affecting the alignment? From the picture in the linked thread it would seem there would be a noted difference in the two from the diameter of the tubes. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/667015-questions-boge-bilstein-struts.html |

Yes, the Billstein’s have a very large diameter shaft, the Boge’s are thin. Just like the pic. Changing the inserts won’t Chang the alignment.
