Spoiler Options on 85' Carrera Cab
I'm helping an older gentleman prepare his 1985 Carrera Cabriolet for sale. It has a Porsche rear spoiler with the ET brake light. We are trying to determine if that was a factory option in 85' or not. I've only found conflicting information, so far. Thoughts?

According to a colleague, all tails on all non-turbos were factory options then.

The US required a third brake light starting in 1986. Some of the third brake lights were integrated into rear spoilers. I don't think a 1985 would have a ET brake light. I don't think Porsche ever integrated a brake light into the spoiler in the 80's.

Thanks, gents! I've seen pictures of a few 85' cabs with whale tails, but they had a front spoiler, as well. I will see if there is evidence of a front spoiler ever being installed. I also see that M471 & M473 options were available for coupes, just not sure of cabs.

The tail and the chin spoiler were a single option. You couldn't order one or the other, they were only available from the factory as a set.

Magic1 -- As AG81 indicated above, the ET third brake light wasn't US government-mandated (and therefore wouldn't have been an option) in 1985 -- if the third brake light's integrated into the spoiler, it wouldn't have been original to the car.
