1969 2.0 MFI fuel line routing, to/from filter.

I've been cleaning up the engine box (69 2.0e) and wouldn't you know it, the masking tape that I had marking all of the fuel lines got screwed up.

I've got the following Lines on the chassis:

1) From fuel pump
2) back to fuel pump

I've got the following lines on the filter housing and filter

3) bottom of filter (goes to hook up on right side of injection pump #7)
4) top of filter mount, has odd "screen" inside filter housing
5) top of filter mount, appears to route to center of filter
6) top of filter mount, appears to route to the outer part of the fuel filter

On the injection pump:

7) Inlet (connect to 3)
8) Outlet (connects to ?)

I have a feeling that #1 connects to #5, is this correct?
I also have a better feeling that 3 goes to 7

Where do the rest of them go?

thanks

Per

If it's the same as my 73 then outlet from the MFI pump goes into the inlet on your filter it should be marked and is probably the plug pointing to the back of the car. I'll try and post a pic of the haynes diagram (wow I actually implied the haynes manual as useful

Thanks, I actually have the factory service manual..but it's diagram is not clear (its the same one that was reproduced on page 142 of the 2/03 Excellence.

I guess the main question is...there's three connections at the top of the filter housing...one that goes to the center of the filter...one that goes to the outer part of the filter...and one that has some sort of weird brass/mesh/wire pluggy thing....where do all of those get connected...

thanks

hmm.. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.. I haven't removed my filter yet so it might be covering it up.

thank god for big digital images.

It appears as though the lines at the top of the filter connect the following way...closest to rear of car goes to MFI out, the one pointing towards the engine goes to the return to tank line, the one pointing towards the front of the car goes to the fuel supply line (the fuel line that comes out of the chassis right behind the filter).

That sounds about right. I'm not near my car or books though.

The diagram in the Haynes manual is wrong!!! It looks to be a factory diagram as well. My motor is out but everything is marked and I'll post later.

Follow the Haynes diagram and the car will start, idle and drive around town fine but will not pull above 4K.

how is it wrong? I know the lines at the filter are backwards but that's easy to figure out

If you remove the filter from the assembly on top it will become clear what goes where.

Here's how it is on my 2.2.

Rear of filter (rear of car)=left side of MFI pump
Bottom of filter=right side of MFI pump
Front of filter=hardline, feed from fuel pump
Center of filter(points towards engine)=T, return line back to tank
