Pressure plate for 911/01 transmission
Will these aluminium PP work with the 911/01. I think they are for 915. I know it will fit the 911/01, will the finger spring pressure be too much for the 911/01 pilot bearing?
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/883082999746.htm?pn=88-3082-999-746-M410&bc=c&SVSVSI= If I use this aluminium PP, will it be okay to put the light weight flywheel from Patrick M Sport with it? Will it be difficult for the idle? Aluminium PP 9.8lbs vs Steel PP 13.5lbs Light weight flywheel 6.5lbs vs Stock flywheel 8.5lbs Thanks |

I had that setup in a 914/6 for a while. The pilot bearing will be fine. One challenge to keep an eye on is the pivot bolt for the throwout fork - it's a known weak area on the 70/71 transmisisons. Extra pressure plate spring pressure puts a little more force on them. You can put red loctite on the throwout fork bolt to keep it from backing out.
As for the light flywheel ... idle will be fine. It will make starting from standstill a little more challenging, but not a huge deal. Stop and go traffic might get annoying. Up to personal taste at the end of the day. For a street only car, I might skip the light flywheel personally. |

did you get a chance to compared the Aluminium PP to Steel PP? I am also curious if 3.7lbs lighter will make that much of a differences.

I personally haven't compared steel to aluminum pressure plates, but plenty of people here will have. Let's see if one of them chimes in. It's a common upgrade.
