I agree with Jamie. I recently got my car and was going through a similar thought process as you. I read some great advice on here that basically stated prior to doing any upgrades drive your car for a while. Figure out what is worn out and needs refreshing. On most of these cars there will be things you were not expecting. I think in many cases the suspension is not updated or refreshed as these cars age. Not that your car will be like mine but what I found on mine is the engine is fine but many other things need attention including my suspension.

i will be rebuilding my 1979 SC. Going with later euro pistons 9.8 compression.
Keeping CIS.

any mild cam i could use with this rebuild?

I’d do a search with the terms “3.0” “CIS” “964 cam” and “Webcam 20/21”
